About the Role
The Payroll Team Lead is to provide mentorship for other team members and lead coordination of day-to-day operational payroll processing requirements for clients and management of workload of your Payroll & HR Services Team including any one-off project work.
Key responsibilities include but is not limited to:
- Supervise, train, motivate and lead the payroll team from an operational perspective
- Review and manage the workload of the teams to drive efficiency and ensure all deadlines are met
- Ensuring service levels are met whilst maintaining strong relationships and an accurate payroll function
- Checking of payroll / invoicing accuracy of team members as required
- Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders with respect to payroll and billing as required
- Responsible for ensuring payroll compliance relating to all statutory obligations, including taxation, superannuation and modern awards
- Review, monitor and implement new processes, and drive business improvement
- Review and ensure clients are billed for payroll services on a regular basis by your payroll services team
- Act as the point of contact for any escalated payroll queries
- Working with the wider Finance Team to deliver reporting required by clients and management.
- Adhoc project work assigned by Head of Department.
About You
If you also have the following attributes, then we would love to hear from you:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a payroll
- Experience managing 2-3 direct reports
- Experience in payroll processing up to 1000 employees
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to demonstrate working knowledge of payroll processes and understanding of Australian Taxation Office (ATO) Legislation as it pertains to payroll, superannuation legislation and payroll tax legislation across Australian state revenue offices, Fair work ombudsman and National Employment Standards (NES)
- Able to work under pressure, work autonomously
- Outsourcing payroll experience and/ or experience working with an offshore team will be an added advantage
