About the role

The Compliance Officer is responsible to ensure the implementation of policies and procedures in accordance with Cayman Islands Regulations and aligned with TMF’s Group Policies. He/she is also responsible to drive a culture of compliance in the Cayman Islands office.

The Compliance Officer reports to the Regional Director of Risk and Compliance for North America and the Caribbean, and will maintain a direct reporting line to the board of directors of TMF (Cayman) Ltd.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the named Compliance Officer and MLRO for TMF (Cayman.) Ltd. and assigned subsidiaries or affiliates.
  • Monitor and keep abreast of legislative changes within the Cayman Islands
  • Verify adherence to the local laws and regulations governing the detection and deterrence of money laundering and terrorist financing.
  • Review compliance policies and procedures to ensure they are in line with applicable regulations and make relevant recommendations to management.
  • Ensure ongoing Implementation of AML/CFT policies and procedures, including end-user or introduced client acceptance policies, client due diligence, record-keeping, ongoing monitoring, reporting of suspicious transactions and combating the financing of terrorism.
  • Regularly assess AML/CFT mechanisms to ensure effectiveness, sufficient to address any changes in money laundering and financing of terrorism trends.
  • Ensure that a consistent, proportionate, and risk based approached is applied to all compliance matters.
  • Drive improvements in compliance awareness through the evaluation of needs, training, and development
  • review all existing compliance policies to ensure that they continually meet regulatory and best practice requirements.
  • Ensure proper action plans are made and implemented to address upcoming changes in regulation and best practice.
  • Implement appropriate mechanisms for the reporting on compliance matters to local regulator.
  • Ensure that compliance controls are well documented for internal and external purposes.
  • Provide input and requirements to TMF Group Compliance on a number of topics requiring local knowledge.
  • Support Group Compliance when needed on alignment with local requirements.

Key requirements:

  • Compliance experience in a multinational organization offering a diverse and complex suite of services.
  • Knowledge of regulated business in the financial services industry
  • Ability to anticipate and evaluate problems and potential obstacles.
  • Project and program management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, accounting or other relevant discipline
  • ICA Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading the compliance function within a regulated environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with confidence to engage with people of all levels of the business;
  • Ability to develop and deliver training, influence behaviours across a range of competencies.
  • Skill/experience driving projects, analysing data and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and policy drafting skills, to draft and develop internal controls, policies, and procedures.
