Job purpose
Accountable for oversight of key tasks and activities of the IPT compliance team, ensuring that our clients are provided with an efficient, professional, and high-quality service. Acts as a reviewer and point of escalation for tax compliance duties for clients within their span of control.
The Senior IPT Compliance Manager supports workforce planning for the team creating a positive working environment with high levels of motivation and engagement. In addition to a small team of direct reports, he/ she is accountable, with the support of the IPT Service Delivery Manager, for ensuring overall team adherence in line with Client Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and any applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), inclusive of all mandatory local legislation compliance requirements.
In addition, the role will support Finance in the reconciliation and oversight of all IPT revenues and billings.
Duties and responsibilities
- Performance of Senior Compliance Associate responsibilities across a small portfolio of clients.
- Responsible for the overall management of the IPT compliance process with the primary focus to meet all aspects of client delivery, as per the respective contractual documentation and in accordance with the applicable deadlines
- Oversee the identification and end to end realisation of opportunities for additional work within the team (identification, understanding, approval, delivery and billing)
- Supports IPT Compliance Director in implementation of client contact strategy ensuring at least annual performance reviews with key clients; attends client meetings as required and where possible based on the client survey responses suggest and implement clear follow-up actions
- Works with the IPT Compliance Directors and IPT Service Delivery Manager to ensure that internal controls are implemented, and policies and processes are put in place, consistent, and adhered to
- Acts as the focal point for the IPT compliance team to internal and external stakeholders / clients on daily operational escalations and issues
- Works closely with management to set expectations and communicates expectations to the team
- Has a comprehensive technical and functional understanding of all compliance service delivery processes
- Accountable for review and approval of returns in conjunction with IPT Compliance Directors and IPT Service Delivery Manager
- Supports the IPT Client Engagement Director and IPT Compliance Directors in ensuring the professional relationships and effective liaison of all team members with clients and TMF Local Offices
- Involved in system improvements, testing & coordination with IT teams on system changes, upgrade, enhancements and IT issue log
- Accountable for ensuring all necessary procedures associated with compliance processes and controls are maintained
- Responsible for creating a high-performance team by focusing on team development, satisfying work experiences and accountability for team results and performance and ultimately retention
- Manages the development and workload of direct reporting compliance team staff
- Provides supervision, training and guidance to wider IPT team members on specific tasks; identifies the need for specific technical trainings and arranges such trainings with the IPT Directors. Ensures that all team members undertake required training
- Monitors staff performance and provides necessary coaching & mentoring
- Responsible for identifying and monitoring client operational risks in conjunction with the Senior IPT Service Delivery Manager and other IPT team members, as well as local offices to address tax risks and suggest actions for mitigating
- Responsible for identifying and monitoring client commercial risks and suggests actions for mitigating them across allocated client portfolio
- Supports the IPT Client Engagement Director with the implementation of changes to the organisational structure and monitors its efficiency
- Provides support and supervision during the roll-out of relevant tax technology in the team within agreed deadlines.
Job specific requirements
- 6-8 years’ experience in a similar role
- 2- 4 years of direct people management experience
- Degree holder in finance, accountancy or business-related disciplines preferable
- ACCA/CTA qualifications are desirable
- Resourceful, independent and strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong ability to plan ahead and organise
- Analytical, structured mind set with ability to follow and build upon existing processes and ensure data is maintained with accuracy and consistency
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook is essential, along with experience of local accounting system
- Experience in an outsourcing firm with strong client servicing skills is preferred
Key results Areas & Key Performance Indicators
- Accountable for smooth onboarding of new clients
- Support the team to ensure implementation of standard approaches aimed to ensure IPT revenue on current clients is maximised (additional registrations, out of scope, cross-sell, upsell) and implement clear follow-up actions
- Nurture client relationships to maximise revenue and minimise attrition
- Accountable for monitoring and increasing efficiency of delivery of the team, with the aim to reduce non-chargeable time, in conjunction with the IPT Service Delivery Manager
- Accountable for management of all clients and related recurring tasks under their span of control acting as a reviewer and an internal and external point of escalation where necessary
- Accountable for maintaining Last Twelve Months (LTM) attrition levels below 20% for employees within their span of control
- Support process enhancement and continuous process improvements, utilising systems as required
- Support IPT clients in remaining fully compliant with relevant local tax legislation
- 100% timely and accurate time writing for own time and validation and signoff for employees within your span of control
- Accountable for 100% Data Entry completeness and accuracy within the relevant reporting systems
- Accountable for 100% Compliance to Tax Reporting Deadlines
- 100% Adherence to ISO27001 Data/information Security protocols
