DISCOVER THE ROLE

Based in our London office, you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Private Wealth & Family Office in managing a diverse portfolio of trust and charity clients. As part of a small, highly experienced team, you will contribute to the management of an interesting and varied client base, including trusts and grant-making charities. Your primary responsibility will be the preparation of trust tax returns and accounts for the portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely delivery. We offer a hybrid working model with two days in the office and three days remote, providing the perfect balance between collaboration and personal productivity.

KEY RESPONISBILITIES

  • Preparing year end accounts with supporting schedules for both trusts and grant making charities
  • Preparing trust tax returns and annual charity returns
  • Reviewing and updating charity policies annually
  • Have an understanding of The Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) and keep up to date with guidance
  • Preparing claims, elections and inheritance tax returns for trusts
  • Preparing ATED returns
  • Attendance at trustee meetings and preparing minutes
  • Reviewing the work prepared by a trainee in some cases
  • Liaising with HMRC in response to enquiries and ad-hoc queries
  • Working directly with clients, and trustees and their other advisors to answer questions to ensure a seamless service
  • Building strong relationships with clients, the team and the wider TMF network
  • Monitoring client profitability and assisting with debt collection
  • Assisting with the enhancement of our existing processes
  • Assisting with the preparation of marketing material and business development
  • Continually keeping up to date with relevant UK tax changes

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent people skills to build and retain strong relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence collaborating with senior stakeholders
  • Experience working in the private client field
  • An ability to work pro-actively and manage your own tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm to grow and develop
  • CTA or ACA part or fully qualified or qualified by experience with at least 3 years in a client facing, ideally trusts, environment.
  • Membership of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) would be beneficial.
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Office packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) and standard in house packages
  • Minimum 3 A –levels and 5 GCSE’s (A-C) including English and Maths
