About the Role - Data Security Lead

 As a Data Security Lead, your role is critical in ensuring the protection and integrity of an organization’s data. You will oversee the development, implementation, and management of data security programs, including the following critical components, Hands-on experience with tools like Forcepoint, Varonis, Thales, DSPM, OneTrust, PowerBI

1. DLP (Data Loss Prevention): You will be responsible for preventing unauthorized data leaks, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, and safeguarding sensitive information within the organization.

2. Data Security: Your role will involve monitoring and securing access to data, detecting abnormal user behavior, and preventing insider threats.

3. Data Encryption: You will implement encryption solutions to protect data at rest and in transit to safeguard sensitive data, ensuring confidentiality and integrity.

4. DSPM (Data Security and Privacy Management): As a Data Security Manager, you will establish and enforce data security policies, manage data access controls, and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.

5. Data Access Rights Management: Your role will involve monitoring, reviewing, and controlling user access to various digital resources within an organization. These resources may include databases, applications, files, folders, and network systems. You will be auditing user access rights to identify any discrepancies or unauthorized access.

6. Data Privacy: You will work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to data privacy laws (such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.). This includes managing data subject requests, conducting privacy impact assessments, and maintaining privacy documentation.

7. Data Analytics: You will work to transform raw data into meaningful information, and actionable insights, supporting informed decisions, and fostering growth. A few key aspects like Data Collection, Data Cleaning, Data Analysis, Universal Relevance

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Policy Creation: Develop and enforce policies for effective data management, ensuring adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data.
  • Secure Procedures: Implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis, considering technical aspects.
  • Data Sharing Rules: Establish rules for data sharing within and outside the organization.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor and analyze information and data systems and troubleshoot data-related issues.
  • Data Security and Integrity: Ensure data security and integrity across the organization.
  • Governance and Project Management: Overseeing data protection governance for both new and existing initiatives/projects. Keeping stakeholders informed through regular reports on data protection strategies and policies.
  • Strategy Evaluation: Assessment of existing data protection strategies and frameworks and Identifying areas for improvement or rectification.

 Key Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in data security management, including DLP, encryption, and access controls.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) and industry best practices.
  • Mandatory certifications CISSP,
  • Strong technical acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Key Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Leadership skills: Ability to guide and influence teams.
  • Critical reviewer: Attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Data analytics: Proficiency in analysing data.
  • Power BI: Familiarity with this data visualization tool.
  • Understanding of Tools: DLP, DSPM, CSPM, Data Classification, Data Encryption, AI and ML.
  • Knowledge of permissions, user behavior monitoring, and access control.
  • Awareness of privacy laws and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage data breaches and incidents.
  • Ability to manage compliance requirements like CIS, NIST, ISO, ISAE etc.
  • Results-oriented growth mindset with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, critical projects is required.

Years of Experience:

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience in data security management.

By effectively managing these critical programs, you will contribute to the organization’s overall success, ensuring data confidentiality, availability, and compliance. Your leadership skills, critical review capabilities, and proficiency in data analytics, including tools like Power BI, will be instrumental in ensuring data protection and driving informed business decisions.
