Our San Diego Fund Accounting team keeps on growing and we're looking to add an Associate Manager to perform the following activities:

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist Manager with administrative and operational duties
  • Ensure client deliverables are prepared accurately and with a high level of quality
  • Reconcile all portfolio and cash activity to source data
  • Ensure fund expenses are accrued timely and in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare and review investor allocations and ensure fee calculations and allocations are booked accurately
  • Prepare monthly Net Asset Value reporting while following the established accounting procedures and controls
  • Performance and review of complex (multi‐step) call and distribution calculations for closed‐end fund structures (subsequent close, penalty interest, equalization)
  • Supervise and review the end‐to‐end process of fund accounting, including booking all fund transactions, position and cash reconciliations, month end valuations, corporate action processing, and production of monthly financial statements, investor statements and audit drafts
  • Initial review on Associates' work
  • Training and oversight of Associates
  • Draft annual financial statements for audit for new and existing funds
  • Supervision of the audit and tax relationships; overseeing the year‐end audit and tax return process
  • Point of contact for client’s service providers (e.g., audit/tax, bank, broker and counsel)
  • Coordinate deliverables and oversee workload in collaboration with peers from other regions

Key requirements:

  • Identify and track inefficiencies caused by client issues; suggest resolutions to Manager
  • Relationship building; both internal and external
    • Be able to identify client needs and respond quickly
    • Consistently and proactively build and enhance relationships (internally and externally)
  • Proactive ownership and accountability for clients and client‐related activities
  • Post-secondary education/University Degree with a concentration in finance or accounting.
  • 4+ years experience working in the fund administration industry with experience managing Staff. This can include other administrators, investment managers or fund auditors
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • In-depth understanding of fund administration industry. This includes multiple fund structures, fee calculations, financial instruments and fund offering documentation review. Hedge fund/open-ended fund experience would be beneficial
  • Have a working knowledge of Bloomberg would be beneficial but not necessary
  • Experience with fund accounting software Archway ATWeb would be an asset

Salary range: 85k - 115k
