Purpose of the role:

The Senior Privacy Officer will assist the Group Privacy Office in implementing data protection across TMF Group entities considering local data protection laws and current privacy policies of TMF Group. The Senior Privacy Officer will also participate to Group Privacy Office's ongoing projects, maintaining data protection compliance and achieving global data protection priorities. The Privacy Officer will work in the North and South Americas regions primarily, with another Privacy Officer and under the supervision of a Privacy Director.

The Privacy Officer is a member of the Group Privacy Office, which is part of TMF Group Risk & Compliance. The Group Privacy Office has a strategic role in keeping TMF Group and the respective local TMF Group entities in good legal and data protection standing, to advise on and monitor data protection compliance and simultaneously support and provide workable solutions for sales, service, and internal support functions.

Key functions and responsibilities:

The Senior Privacy Officer take care of various aspects of privacy across the American Region, including the following tasks:

  • Review data processing agreements;
  • Respond to due diligence queries from clients and oversee the due diligence process of third parties;
  • Perform data protection impact assessments;
  • Perform transfer impact assessments;
  • Oversee local incidents and ensure the correct implementation of our Personal Data Breach Handling Procedure, assist with risk assessments and implementation of remediation measures;
  • Oversee and handle data subject requests;
  • Review email access requests;
  • Assist in the set up and maintenance of the register of processing activities;
  • Other privacy related tasks.

The Senior Privacy Officer might also exercise similar tasks falling under the scope of the other regions of TMF Group, i.e. Asia and EMEA, when required.

Competencies and skills:

  • Strong interest in privacy with a knowledge of GDPR;
  • Reliable and ability to work within strict deadlines;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and to report clearly to its supervisors;
  • Curious and not afraid to ask questions and for help where necessary (in particular when there is an issue or a blocking point, etc);
  • Willing to work in a team and with various internal and external stakeholders;
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to interact with various departments;
  • Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English and Spanish.

Experience and qualifications:

  • A Master degree preferably in law or compliance;
  • First professional experience with exposure to privacy;
  • Sound knowledge of GDPR or an similar privacy framework;
  • Privacy certification is a plus (e.g., CIPP/E);
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft 365.
